Episode 249: Marry a Monkey

Wedding bells are ringing for this episode of GBW and we’re talking about 12 movies for the honeymoon.

This time we have a puppet rat bent on world domination, an apartment building containing a killer, T&A shenanigans at the Pentagon, a grainy indie journey to find sasquatch, learn about a small town movie theatre beating the odds, jam out to a David A. Prior flick, and so much more!

Episode 248: Lawyer Werewolf

When your lawyer is a werewolf are you guaranteed to win because they’ll just eat their opponent? Does this have anything to do with the twelve movies here? Not really.

This time we get double peril in the air, let ourselves be swept up in a werewolf cult, critique a little art with murderous results, lawyer up with Richard Gere, check out Sean Byrne’s DANGEROUS ANIMALS, have some backstreet dreams, and so much more!

Episode 247: Theme Scene!

Somehow amongst the 19 movies we cover this episode we came up with four distinct themes. None of them intentional.

This time we talk recent theatrical release FRIENDSHIP, check out a revenge filled sequel that surpasses the original, watch a giant ape menace London, get down with the dream pairing of Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin, learn all about an ancient idol that makes you horny(?), see a “ripped from the headlines” TV movie that’s so very 90’s, and so much more!

Episode 246: Narration!

“The boys of GBW prepared themselves to talk about seventeen movies. It was going to be something special. It was going to be epic.”

This episode’s films contain way more narration than expected but we also take a look at recent theatrical releases FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES and SINNERS, put up with some bad stand-up comedy, get all “buddy cop” French style, check out an early 70’s baseball drama, have vigilante action where Josh wished harm on the vigilante, have more proof why Chris dislikes found footage, see Jackie Chan dish out martial arts as well as tasty food, and so much more!

Episode 244: You Made It Weird

Sometimes you just want a popcorn movie and sometimes you want to walk out of a movie wondering just what the hell you saw. We have both instances of that on the latest GBW!

Amongst the fourteen flicks covered this time we get Lee Marvin teaching the way of the outlaw, a DVD box tricks us (this has never happened before), an 80’s slasher under “slashes”, a sea monster wreaks havoc, Hollywood is torn down by one of our true visionary directors, Brendan Fraser is back again to take on the undead, we learn what can happen if you don’t feel pain, and so much more!

Episode 243: High Concept’s All We Got

This episode of GBW has multiple examples of when a movie has a pretty cool concept but doesn’t do nearly enough with it.

Aside for that, these sixteen films run a gamut from rip-off 80’s sci-fi, a 30-something cop going undercover in high school, one of the most miscast espionage thrillers ever, an odd choice for a disaster movie, a Lifetime movie with more grit than expected, two pals caught up in a crime scheme, the oddest Mill Creek entry yet, and so much more!

Episode 242: A Crazy Night

We’re back and we’ve brought 20 (plus a few sneaky bonus) movies with us!

This time we’re checking out some recent Oscar nominees, get O.G. with Superman, discover that Mary Lambert directed a crazy girl flick, spend an outrageous night in 80’s New York City, watch “Cheech” unleashed in Australia, watch a duo of remakes, Chris makes a decision about M. Night, Josh watches his first Fassbinder, and so much more!

Episode 241: The Horror of Comedy

This episode contains horror, has comedy, and a mixture of both as we cover 15 movies including two theatrical trips for PRESENCE and COMPANION, John Saxon hamming it up as a fantasy villain, a possessed (but cute) rottweiler doing some killing, another 80’s horror spoof that doesn’t really work, bank robbers trying to get the heck out of New York, a sort-of noir involving filmmaking, CG heavy alien invaders, a British gangster flick that keeps you guessing, and so much more!

Episode 240: Stunt Casting

Stunt casting is nothing new and a handful of the movies on this episode of GBW completely fall victim to this.

We cover 16 more films of varying quality that include recent Oscar nominated A REAL PAIN, Yul Brynner being a bad-ass (as usual), a town falling victim to its worst impulses, a goofy slasher flick for the “bros”, two sci-fi action adventures with differing results, SOV vampires, some bats that REALLY hate humans, an early Viggo Mortensen film that’s truly one-of-a-kind, and so much more!
